Evaluating Undergraduate Students Use of Information Resources and Services Available in the Baze University Library

Abstract

This study was designed to evaluates the use of library resources and services by undergraduate students of Base University, the main objectives of the study are to Ascertain the frequency of the use of library by the students of the university, find out the availability; adequacy of the library resources, determine how relevant the information resources are to the student, Determine the accessibility of the library resources, determine user's satisfaction with the services rendered. Questionnaire was used the instrument used in the course of the study; random sampling technique was used in gathering the information. 100 questionnaires were given out and 84 were filled and retrieved. The finding revealed that the percentage for non-availability of Magazines and Newspaper is quite high, reference materials and online resources are relevant to the student. Based on the analysis it could be concluded that Library resources are easily accessible to users except for few. From our findings it was revealed that undergraduate students are satisfied with the services rendered in the library. In view of this it was recommended that the library should improve on providing more resources to the meet the needs of their users when needed, most especially Magazines and Newspapers, tk i library should try and make the library resources easily accessible to their patrons when its needed this will help develop the user's interest, library services should be made readily available to the library u ers, this will help to improve the patronage of the library and it will bring about satisfaction on the part cfthe users.
