Abstract: The study examines a critical analysis.is on human rights violations in Nigerian democratic dispensation 1 999-2015. The study relied on secondary sources of data as veritable tools for its analysis. The objective of the study is to put an end to all forms of human rights violations in Nigeria. The study revealed that despite the many years of democratic practice in Nigeria, human rights violations are going on unabated. Further findings revealed that instead of democracy to end human rights violations, it is rather encouraging them. The gap of the study is that all fundamental human rights should be protected and respected whether in democracy or in the military regimes. The framework of analysis upon which the study is anchored is the theory of natural law. The study concludes that the rule of law which guarantees human rights protection is lacking in Nigerian form of democracy: The study recommends that democratic and human rights principles must be sacrosanct, respected, protected and promoted in all democratically elected governments in Nigeria.
