dc.description.abstract | The study is an assessment of the effect of Board meeting frequency on Earnings Management of foods and beverages firms in Nigeria. The expo-facto research design was adopted with reliance on secondary data from annual report of listed firms. The simple random sampling techniques were employed in selecting the 12 firms out of 23 firms for 2010-2019 financial year. To carry out this objective three method of panel regression estimation was used which is random effect by Hausman test which was analyzed using E-views 10. The findings show that board meeting frequency has a negative significant impact on earning management. The study concludes that the board is corporate governance mechanism that reduces earnings manipulation. The study recommends that SEC should encourage adherence to at least the minimum requirement (four times in a financial year) by making it mandatory to hold meetings at least four times in a year. Finally, the SEC should encourage more frequent meetings by Board of Directors because; the empirical evidence indicates that Board Meetings are associated with low Earnings Management. | en_US |
