Don (family fabaceae) popularly called the African locust bean tree have been used traditionally as food and medicine and are of high commercial value in the West African region. The plant is reported to contain carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals, vitamins, tannins and flavonoids. P. biglobosa possesses antimalarial, antihelminthic, antibacterial, antivenom, antidiabetic, and antihypertensive and antioxidant properties.
