Objectives: To assessing an existing building for retrofitting towards improving its environmental performance and energy
efficiency. Methods/Statistical Analysis: A walkthrough assessment and evaluation of a Chemical Engineering Pilot Plant
Building facility in University Technology Malaysia, was carried out. In addition, an interview session with the building facility manager was conducted alongside the building evaluation. Findings: The building fall short of the standards required
for green and energy efficient building rating. However, retrofitting could be possible towards improving its environmental performance. Applications/Improvement: The result of a possible retrofit of the Chemical Engineering Pilot Plant
Building facility using solar PV panels would provide about 41% savings in the building’s annual energy consumption. |
